Basement Concepts provides a full two year warranty on all workmanship and factory warranty on all fixtures and fittings.
Insurance: We carry a limited liability insurance of Two million dollars. Our employees are bonded and covered by W.S.I.B. (workplace safety insurance board) as are all of our subcontractors who also carry their own liability insurance policies.
License & Permits: Basement Concepts carries a renovator license with the city of Barrie. We use ONLY Master Licensed Electricians, Plumbers and Gas Fitters. All work is completed to code and inspected with permits where required.
Note: Electrical permit is always required.

FAQ
Q. Do we finish basement apartments.
A. Typically no. A second kitchen in a single family dwelling unit is illegal and permits including electrical (the most important could not be issued).
Q. Do we put kitchens in basements.
A. No. Kitchens are not legal in basements and will subject the owners to fines of up to $50,000.0 if they are not removed. Also, insurance companies would not pay out in the event of a fire as a second kitchen was installed illegally and without inspections.
We will only apply for a kitchen permit if the home was built built prior to 1996 or it is a legal duplex.
Q. Do you attain permits.
A. Yes, an electrical permit is always required. Building permits depend on your local building departments requirements.
Q. Do you provide a total turnkey finish.
A. Yes, we finish to move in condition along with flooring, trim, paint etc..
Q. Do we finish other peoples work.
A. No. We do not put our name on other peoples work as the quality and safety cannot be guaranteed.
Q. Do you provide a guaranteed price.
A. Yes, we provide a guaranteed price to the penny in our contracts. Changes and additions by the owner will obviously add to the cost and are billed separately and paid for upon completion.

Q. Do we use sub contractors.
A. Yes. We use sub contractors and have full time employees as well. Typically we sub contract plumbing and electrical work to our regular licensed professionals.
Q. Do we finish basements within a specified time frame.
A. Yes. Our contracts come with a written completion timeframe. Occasionaly custom built items such as cabinetry and exotic flooring can extend timeframes as we have no control over that.
Q. Do you use metal or wood studs.
A. We use wood studs for framing of walls and steel for bulkheads. Metal studs are not recommended for exterior walls as screw holes will show through over time due to external cold temperatures. Metal studs retain the cold on exterior walls much greater than wood even if insulated.
Q. Do your employees and your sub contractors carry all the necessary licenses.
A. Yes. We are a licensed renovator with the city of Barrie and carry Two million dollars liability insurance as well as WSIB insurance. All of our sub contractors must carry the same.
Q. Do we fix cracks and leaks in walls.
A. Yes. We will not finish a basement until these issues have been addressed. We use a professional company that specializes in these matters.
Q. Do we provide estimates for insurance purposes.
A. No. We are not in that business.
Q. Do we allow clients to choose their own fixtures, carpet and tiles
A. Yes. We use high quality bathroom fixtures standard but if a client wants to upgrade that can be done. We provide samples and direct clients to our local suppliers to pick out their flooring typically carpet and tile.
Q. Do we install wood laminate floors in basements.
A. No. We do not recommend installation of these materials on uneven basement floors.
Q. Do we do other renovation or construction projects.
A. Yes we will do other select projects for your home.
